Awake in 2018

Wishing us all playfulness, warmth, and peace in our hearts, that we may spread these things into the world.

Forward and Back

My best wishes to you and yours as we all look back upon 2016 and ahead to 2017...but live in the now.

Always Cause for Celebration…

May you be tickled by life’s simplest pleasures of beauty, humor, and joy both in this festive season and beyond. My very best to you and yours.

Goodbye, 2014; Hello 2015!

Another year has come swiftly to a close. I am grateful for having been able to show ten of my newest woven vessels at Black Cat Coffee in August and September alongside Shelley Snodgrass's beautiful pastel/fiber works. Looking ahead, I am ebracing the winter for the permission to pull inward and continue my exploration there.

May the joy of the holidays be followed by the rejuvenation that can come from looking inward as all of us begin the new year.

Common Threads, September 2014

I am happy to report that my good friend and fellow fiber artist Shelley Snodgrass and I just installed our co-show at Black Cat Coffee, 463 Stevens Avenue, right here in Portland [hours: Mon - Sat: 6:30am - 6pm, Sun: 7:30am - 3pm].

Our show will be up until the end of September and features Shelley's pastel/fiber works and my woven vessels. Shelley has been playing with using fiber forms she knits as a form of linework over her pastels. And I have been playing with using the weaving of 3-dimensional vessels as exploration of the self. We both thoroughly enjoyed preparing for this show.

If you get a chance, swing by and check it out! And if you're in the 'hood Sunday, September 7, we'll be celebrating at Black Cat Coffee with a little reception between 1 and 3pm. Hope to see you there!

Dreams for the New Year, 2013

I dream of peace in my heart, radiating beyond myself.
I dream of play, informing all that I create.
I dream of carpe diem, living in every moment.

Ushering in the New Year with Ink in 2012

Having discovered the joys and subtleties of [walnut] ink and quill, I look forward to seeing where they take me!

Almost Microscopic Exploration

Working with my hands—I find myself returning to them again and again, sketching design solutions or capturing thoughts on paper. These are the first in a series of explorations, playing with tiny 2" x 2" spaces.

Castles in the Air

"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost: that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them." ~ Henry David Thoreau

One of my favorite things has to be meeting on a project with someone who has just set out on a new (ad)venture—a new vocation, a new product, or perhaps just a new perspective. Often, there is a lot of enthusiasm and excitement—absolutely infectious, and perfect fuel for the design process. You've built your castles; I can put the visual foundations under them.
